Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia’s national airline, plans to ramp up its international and domestic flight operations from its Jakarta and Denpasar hubs by the end of March 2024. Additionally, the airline aims to bolster its fleet by the year’s end.

“[This] will be implemented on five international flight routes, namely Sydney – Denpasar, Melbourne – Denpasar, Seoul – Jakarta, Seoul – Denpasar, and Haneda – Jakarta, starting on March 31, 2024,” said the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, in Jakarta on Friday (Mar. 1). “[We] will also gradually increase the frequency of flights on more than 16 domestic routes spread across various regions of the archipelago.”

The airline will boost its Tokyo (Haneda) to Jakarta route, increasing from four round-trip flights per week to seven. Effective July 2024, the airline will also increase the flights on its Sydney – Denpasar, Melbourne – Denpasar, and Seoul – Denpasar routes from four flights per week to daily services. Additionally, one more weekly flight will be introduced on the Seoul – Jakarta route, bringing the total to five flights per week.

Aside from International routes, Garuda Indonesia also plans to gradually increase domestic flight frequencies from Jakarta to Palembang, Yogyakarta, Pontianak, Batam, Pekanbaru, Padang, Semarang, and other Indonesian destinations between April and August 2024.”

Irfan commented, “The rise in flight frequency amid the current optimism surrounding global tourism growth is anticipated to generate momentum in promoting the archipelago’s premier destinations, yielding a positive impact on the national economy.”

Regarding the airline’s fleet expansion, he stated, “The expansion plan aligns with efforts to increase the company’s production equipment. Garuda Indonesia aims to grow its fleet to approximately 80 aircraft by the end of 2024.”
