Hanhwa’s Coastal Defence System

: Dec 3, 2018 - : 2:14 pm

A coastal defence system is the centrepiece of South Korean firm Hanwa’s offerings at the ongoing show. Hanhwa is showcasing its capabilities across ammunition, precision guided munitions (PGMs) and general land system capabilities at Cairo but is placing a special emphasis on the coastal defence system for the Egyptian Navy.

Hanhwha’s coastal defence system makes use of the proven K9 self-propelled howitzer supported by the K10 ammunition resupply vehicle model.

The K9 can engage targets on land or out at sea upto a maximum range of 40km. The tracked self-propelled gun can attain a maximum speed on land of 67km/h. It can place rounds on a target in 30 seconds while stationary or hit the target while manoeuvring in 60 seconds.

“We have exported the K9 self-propelled howitzer—a weapon that has gained a reputation for excellence in the international defense markets, including Turkey, Poland, Finland, India, and Norway. We continue to enter new markets and grow our footprint, such as exporting the K10 ammunition resupply vehicle to Norway for the first time in 2017,” a company official says.

The K10 ammunition resupply vehicle can automatically deliver ammunition to K9 self-propelled howitzers in the field. The K10 can resupply the K9 at a rate of over ten rounds per minute.
