The Hungarian Ministry of Defence and EDGE, a prominent advanced technology and defence group, have signed a letter of intent (LOI) during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visit to the UAE. The agreement focuses on defence innovation, research, and development initiatives, laying the groundwork for potential multi-million-euro deals involving the group and its affiliates.
The signing ceremony took place in Abu Dhabi and was attended by Hungary’s Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, and senior executives from EDGE. This marks a significant moment in Hungary’s confidence in EDGE’s advanced defence capabilities and highlights the importance of the Prime Minister's visit in strengthening bilateral relations between Hungary and the UAE.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, commented: "This agreement represents a significant step forward in the cooperation between EDGE and the Hungarian MoD. It symbolises our shared commitment to advancing defence capabilities and fostering innovation while marking an important milestone as EDGE deepens its engagement with NATO member states. We look forward to building on this momentum with further collaboration by supplying CARACAL sniper rifles to the Hungarian Defence Forces, marking the first time EDGE will provide such systems to a NATO member state.”
The visit further reinforces the strategic relationship between Hungary and the UAE, with discussions centred on enhancing cooperation in defence, technology, and innovation to meet shared security goals.
This partnership also paves the way for EDGE’s expansion into Europe and NATO markets, strengthening the UAE’s position as a global player in defence innovation. By aligning with Hungary’s defence priorities, EDGE is poised to offer tailored, high-tech solutions, fostering long-term strategic relationships across Europe.
