The Israel Ministry of Defense has unveiled recent Iron Dome interception footage from southern Israel.
Filmed by the Israel Missile Defense Organization under the DDR&D, the footage showcases the interceptions carried out by the IAF’s Air and Missile Defense Array.
The Iron Dome was developed after the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Created by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries, with some US support, the Iron Dome intercepts and destroys short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from distances of 4 to 70 kilometres (2–43 mi), It can operate in all weather conditions and can respond to multiple threats simultaneously.
The system consists of batteries located across Israel, each with three to four launchers that can fire 20 interceptor missiles. There are both fixed and mobile versions of the system.
