Liebherr and SkyWest Airlines have signed an agreement for the overhaul of landing gear systems on SkyWest’s fleet of Embraer 175-E1 aircraft. The programme is set to begin in 2025, with contracted induction slots running until 2032 and options for expansion and extension.
Liebherr-Aerospace Saline, Inc., based in Michigan, will carry out the overhauls in accordance with Embraer’s maintenance requirements, which stipulate intervals of 30,000 flight hours or 12 calendar years. SkyWest Airlines, headquartered in St. George, Utah, currently operates 262 Embraer 175-E1 aircraft.
Will Dew, Managing Director Commercial at Liebherr-Aerospace Saline, Inc., stated: “We initiated induction lines for the first Americas region overhauls in 2012 and have continuously operated active lines for the complete Embraer E170/175/190/195-E1 family since that time. Over the course of the prior three years, we have undertaken a structural transformation of our MRO activities to establish additional capacity, mature efficiencies, and anchor supply chain resilience within the landing gear product line."

The landing gear system for the Embraer E1 series was developed and manufactured by Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH in Germany. Liebherr-Aerospace & Transportation SAS, based in Toulouse, France, is a division of the Liebherr Group, supplying systems for civil and defence aviation as well as the rail and commercial vehicle sectors.
