Orolia Launches Aviation ELT Exchange Program for Lithium Battery Compliance

: Mar 3, 2021 - : 2:26 am

Orolia, a Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) solutions provider, has launched an exchange program for aircraft operators to meet new EASA/FAA requirements for non-rechargeable lithium batteries in portable Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs).

Orolia’s Ultima-S portable ELT is now available for integration to increase aviation safety and ensure compliance with EASA/FAA requirements. The exchange program includes a variety of Ultima-S configurations that are compatible with major aircraft manufacturer programs. It is available worldwide to any aircraft operator that is still flying with a DO-227A non-compliant beacon.

Orolia’s Ultima-S portable ELT helps airlines enhance flight safety with the latest generation of lithium battery technology. It comes with an integrated GNSS receiver to report the accurate aircraft location to the nearest search and rescue authorities. Also, during evacuation situations, this portable ELT can help locate survivors after they have left the aircraft.

Ultima-S is the world’s first ELT to include a distress acknowledgment message feature based on Galileo’s Return Link Service (RLS), which provides the user with a confirmation that the distress signal was successfully received.

This new portable survival ELT is the latest addition to Orolia’s Ultima family of next generation ELTs, following the introduction of the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS)-compliant Ultima-DT fixed ELT, which provides aircraft manufacturers and operators a comprehensive ELT solution to meet the latest safety standards.
