: Aug 14, 2018 - : 4:10 am

The Philippine Navy has completed a test firing of its Israeli built Rafael Spike ER missiles from a missile gunboat during recently held drills. Reports in Philippine media, also stated that the Mini-Typhoon 12.7mm Remote Control Weapon Systems (RCWS) were also tested.

The Spike-ER (each system has four missiles) and Mini-Typhoon 12.7mm RCWS are fitted on Philippine Navy Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC).  During the trials, the Spike ER missile successfully engaged a target that was 6 km away.

Deliveries of the weapon systems to the Philippine Navy commenced earlier this year. The Rafael built surface to surface missiles have now conferred missile attack capability to the Philippine Navy for the first time.
