Qatar Develops C2 Software, Delivers Capability Upgrade

Our Bureau - : Mar 22, 2022 - : 6:55 am

An indigenous Command and Control (C2) software, developed completely in Qatar by Rheinmetall Barzan Advanced Technologies (RBAT) is now being made available to security and defence customers within the nation. The C2 system is on display at the ongoing DIMDEX and provides an overall situation awareness over the operators customizable 2D and 3D Common Operation Picture Display.

“RBAT is delighted to have strengthened the sovereignty of the State of Qatar by developing a national command and control system providing secured, accurate, complete and timely information for the operational chain of command,” said Mourad Elmaalaoui, RBAT’s Chief Technology Officer.

“The national command and control system can be applied to multiple operational needs with the same functionality, such as target acquisition for UGVs which can be repackaged for various applications, such as camp protection or anti-drone needs.”

The AI-based algorithms embedded in the software for accuracy improvement, support advanced operational functions compliant with ISTAR practises and military tactical planning capabilities compliant with NATO standards. Miles Lalor, Director of Business Development at RBAT, said, “The open architecture of the software, as well as the diagnostic approach of the development, ensure that the security and defence services in Qatar, have the freedom to select the best-of-the-breed in terms of sensors or effectors.

In addition, as requirements change, the systems generated can easily be updated compared to the control that foreign command and control software providers seek control over the solution.”

Multi-language support ensures that the software can be applied to various use cases, including but not limited to: Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), loitering munitions, CBRNE needs, persistent surveillance, anti-drone solutions, and camp protection.
