The Royal Thai Army was handed over its first D-Iron unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at Defence & Security 2022.

The D-Iron is being developed by Thailand’s Defence Technology Institute (DTI) in partnership with Estonian firm Milrem Robotics and is essentially a THeMIS UGV with Thai specific changes. DTI is undertaking local assembly of the D-Iron as also the integration of Thai specific changes.

Milrem Robotics delivered the first THeMIS UGV to Thailand’s Defence Technology Institute (DTI) earlier this year in February. The D-Iron features a 30mm cannon mounted on a R400S Mk2-HD Remote Weapon Station (RWS) from Australian firm Electro Optic Systems (EOS).

Milrem Robotics announced the delivery of the first THeMIS UGV to the Spanish Ministry of Defence in August.

The THeMIS is touted by Milrem Robotics as being the world’s most fielded autonomous UGV in its size class, having been acquired by 13 countries, eight of which are NATO members
