According to sources, IAI brings to the joint venture its vast experience in the development of sea-sea missiles like the Barak – 8 and the long range Lora surface – surface missile. The missiles is designed as a weapon system for attacking sea and ground targets. The Comet will have a long range capability and a large warhead. It will be powered by a jet engine. Israeli sources say that there is a growing demand for such accurate low flying missiles.

The two companies refused to give details on the missile and the development process but sources said that the missile is in very early phases of development and that the final configuration will be frozen not before that end of 2022.

Meteor Aerospace develops UAV’s , unmanned ground vehicles and unmanned vessels. In early 2021, the company teamed up with Caspian Ship Building Company (CSBC) in Azerbaijan, to jointly offer advanced defence solutions to meet the national needs of Azerbaijan. A new company has been established in Azerbaijan, named Caspian Meteor, as part of the cooperation.
