GE is looking to build on its 2021 performance, which was marked by significant strategic, operational and financial transformation.
In his recent annual letter to shareholders, GE's Chairman and CEO, H. Lawrene Culp, Jr, revealed that the company is building on strong momentum to deliver between US$5.5 to US$ 6.5 billion free cashflow this year.
“The past two years have dramatically transformed the aviation sector, and we are now at an exciting point with reimagining the future of flight. As air travel picks up again, we are seeing a rising demand for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, and we are expanding our resources and capabilities to meet this need," said Hadley Bowling, Asia Pacific Sales, GE Aviation.
"We are proud to be partnering with major players across the Asian aviation industry, including Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, and ST Aerospace to bring safer, smarter, and more sustainable flight experiences to our skies. We are also building on this momentum to strengthen our footprint of innovation and sustainability across the aviation sector, to drive new value for our customers everywhere.”
In February, GE Aviation unveiled a suite of strategic deals and partnerships inked at the Singapore Airshow 2022. These collaborations form a critical part of the company's strategy to shape the Future of Flight in Asia and beyond.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) also announced an additional order at the airshow for 22 GE9X engines to power its fleet of Boeing 777-9 aircrafts. The order, valued at US$2.8 billion, included a 12-year GE TrueChoice services contract.
GE is also innovating for the next generation of aircraft engines. With CFM International, its 50-50 joint company with Safran Aircraft Engines, GE Aviation launched theRevolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines (RISE) program last year, which could ultimately lead to engines that would use 20% less fuel and produce more than 20% fewer CO2 emissions than the most efficient jet engines built today.
GE Aviation has also signed a multi-year contract with ST Engineering to implement Test Cell Advisor in ST Engineering's CFM56 overhaul shops in Singapore and Xiamen, China. The Test Cell Advisor is a new GE Aviation data analytics service, which provides added insights for engine performance analysis during testing. It also gives maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) shops servicing GE and CFM International engines timely engine performance analysis during return-to-service testing.
