CAE’s Defence & Security business unit is eyeing a greater share of the Middle East military training and mission support solutions market.
The Middle East remains a region of high priority for CAE, which is a globally recognized training and mission systems integrator, offering training solutions across multi-domain operations – air, land, maritime, space and cyber. CAE has developed a NH90 helicopter training solution for the Qatar Emiri Air Force, and will be providing its state-of-the-art CAE Medallion MR e-Series visual solution for Qatar’s Eurofighter Typhoon simulators, under subcontract to BAE Systems.
At the ongoing show, CAE is showcasing its Trax Academy, including the CAE Sprint VR Trainer, which is designed to support streamlined pilot training and create a more open, self-paced and adaptive student-centered training environment. The CAE Sprint Virtual Reality (VR) trainer includes physical controls and a VR headset that enables visual immersion with high-resolution out-the-window visuals generated by the CAE Medallion image generator, which delivers 20/20 visual acuity to read the instrument panel. Realism is further enhanced by using flight controls – joystick, throttle, and rudder pedals – combined with physical cues boosted by haptics and seat vibration.
The advanced training solution is being offered to customers as a turnkey, comprehensive end-to-end training continuum. The CAE Trax Academy also includes a cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS) that enables training organizations and its students to access training content such as schedules, courseware, and remote instruction more easily on demand. In addition, by implementing an LMS that is optimized through artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, an organization can create a pilot training process that is continually adapting and improving. CAE is also providing briefings on how it develops and delivers integrated bridge training solutions that prepare trainees both as individuals and as team members for navigating and operating their ships at sea.
CAE is also on contract to develop a Joint Multinational Simulation Centre (JMSC) for one of the GCC countries, which will enable commanders and operators from the Army, Air Force, Navy and Staff Colleges to use constructive simulation capabilities to conduct military training from the tactical to strategic level of operations. The company is also delivering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Naval Training Centre (NTC) for the UAE Navy, which will be one of the world’s most advanced naval training facilities. The training centre will be equipped with a range of integrated ship simulation-based training suites, as well as maritime aircraft sensor stations enabling individual, team, whole-ship and collective/joint mission training.
For the UAE Air Force, CAE is delivering comprehensive training on the RQ-1E remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) and providing helicopter simulators for the UAE Joint Aviation Command. In Oman, we are supporting the creation and establishment of the Oman Aviation Academy to train and supply pilots for both the civil and military sectors in Oman and the surrounding region.
