South Korea's Air Force Chief has been busy since the start of the ongoing Show, holding discussions with senior Air Force officers from more than ten nations.
According to reports, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Jung Sang-hwa held a series of meetings with senior military officials from friendly nations. and pledged to expand military and defense industry cooperation with the countries. The hectic activity comes in the wake of Korea surging ahead with the export of weapons made by a rapidly growing defence industry. Among the weapons and systems being showcased at the event are the FA-50 light attack aircraft and the KF-21 Boromae fighter.
During his talks with Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach, commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces, the two leaders discussed ways to enhance combined operational capabilities and the credibility of the U.S. commitment to extended deterrence. He then had separate meetings with senior military officers from Poland and Malaysia, and pledged cooperation for the countries' operation of FA-50 aircraft .
It may be recalled that Poland is set to receive 48 FA-50s through 2028, while Malaysia signed a contract this May to purchase 18 FA-50s.
Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Minister Eom Dong-hwan met Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles on Wednesday to discuss avenues for future defense cooperation. In July, Australia selected Hanwha's Redback vehicle for its program to acquire 129 next-generation armored vehicles by 2028.
Mohamed Salah El-Din, Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production, also met with Eom Dong-Hwan during the Show. Attending the meeting along with him was Majid Muhammad Jamal Al-Din, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Armored Production and Repair Factory.
