The Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 Thunder Block III is making its international show debut at the ongoing airshow.
The JF-17, also known by the Chinese designation FC-1, is a single-engine multi-role light fighter jet jointly developed by China and Pakistan.
In a release, the Pakistan Air Force said the participation of the JF-17 Block III at an international airshow, marks a significant milestone for PAF, showcasing its cutting-edge aviation capabilities on a global stage. The JF-17 Thunder Block 3 fighter jet is equipped with an active electronically scanned array (AESA) state-of-the-art avionics, enhanced weaponry, and advanced electronic warfare systems.
The JF-17 Block III features a new and larger holographic wide-angle head-up display and integrated cockpit display similar to the one used by the J-20, in addition to an advanced infrared missile approach warning system used by the J-10C, J-16 and J-20 fighter jets.
The first JF-17 Block 3 prototype made its maiden flight in mid-December 2019, in Chengdu, Southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
The first JF-17 prototype aircraft (called FC-1) was rolled out in May 2003 and went on to make its first flight in August 2003.
