The T625 GÖKBEY Multirole Utility Helicopter, developed by Turkish Aerospace, has proven its capability to operate in extreme conditions after completing critical cold weather tests in Sweden’s Kiruna region, a key step in its civilian and military certification process.
During a month-long campaign in temperatures as low as -30°C, GÖKBEY completed 60 flight hours across 60 sorties, demonstrating resilience through demanding maneuvers, takeoff and landing tests, and high-speed controllability checks at 176 knots. Ground tests of propulsion, rotor, hydraulic, and environmental control systems further validated its readiness for harsh environments.
This milestone underscores GÖKBEY’s versatility and reliability, reinforcing its role in advancing Türkiye’s s aerospace capabilities for both civilian and military missions.
GÖKBEY, named by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made its first flight on September 6, 2018.
