ACIA Aero Leasing, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, announced the successful delivery of one of two ATR 72-500 Bulk Freighters to Pattaya Airways, based in Thailand on Tuesday (Apr. 30). The airline received the aircraft earlier on 18 April 2024, bearing registration MSN745 and designated as HS-PAW in Thailand. The second aircraft, MSN742, is scheduled to follow in May.

“We are very pleased to be entering a new market by placing our first aircraft in Thailand and providing the Pattaya Group with its first aircraft,” said Mick Mooney, CEO of ACIA. “Pattaya Airways have a robust business plan to capitalize on growing domestic and regional cargo demand in Thailand and South East Asia complementing their existing logistics businesses and infrastructure.”

“We continue to see strong demand for the ATR 72 freighter and are looking forward to placing further freighter aircraft in this region in the near future,” he added.

“The Pattaya Group has a strong established footprint across many sectors of aviation in Thailand and we have decided to further grow our business through the start of our own airline operation, Pattaya Airways,” said Tosaporn Asunee, Chairman of Pattaya Airways.

“The ATR is the perfect fit to serve the growing requirement for domestic and regional cargo and we very much appreciate the support we have received from ACIA Aero Leasing as we establish our new airline operation.”

Pattaya Airways is in the final stages of securing its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Thailand and anticipates commencing operations in the fourth quarter of 2024. The airline aims to operate domestic flights within Thailand, extending its services to neighbouring Southeast Asian countries.

Pattaya Aviation, part of the Pattaya Group, boasts a diverse portfolio within the aviation industry, including ground-handling services and charter flights. Established in 2015, the company has become a prominent player in Thailand’s aviation landscape, headquartered in Bangkok and employing over 3,000 individuals.
