An important update on a modernisation programme for the Royal Malaysian Army (Tentera Darat Malaysia) is the display of the first upgraded ACV-300 Adnan Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) undertaken by DEFTECH.
DEFTECH is one of two companies competing for the army tender. The Life Extension Programme (LEP) will allow the ACV-300 to remain in army service for another 15 years and DEFTECH has completed work on one IFV as a Proof of Concept, which is also being used for trials.

The air conditioning system has also been upgraded and a new Fire Suppression System has been installed replacing the older units Halon gas. The new fire suppression system can be used twice.
DEFTECH is also displaying at the show for the first time, its newly developed Multipurpose Mobile Inventory Vehicle to for the Royal Malaysian Army (RMA). The three tonne 4X4 MMIVs will undergo their Final Acceptance Tests (FAT) with the army this year, following which deliveries of 10 vehicles will be made. DEFTECH has already manufactured the 10 MMIVs for the Ordnance arm of the Malaysian army and company officials said they expected additional orders in the future from other arms of the Malaysian armed forces.
The MMIVs have been locally designed and developed by DEFTECH on an Isuzu FTS-34 chassis. The RMA’s previous MMIVs are over 20 years old and the new vehicles feature substantial improvements. The developmental process for the new MMIVs took approximately a year and each vehicle features eight dismountable storage tracks. The storage racks can be replaced with seating for troops when required and a configuration change would take only about an hour. The vehicle also features a 16-tonne winch.
