The French Army has selected Exail to conduct a Tactical Evaluation (EVTA) of advanced driving simulators. The initiative is led by the Directorate of Studies and Foresight (DEP) of the Transportation and Operational Logistics School (ETLO), in collaboration with the French Army’s Technical Section (STAT). The 515th Transportation Regiment (515ᵉ RT) in Brie will carry out the evaluation.
Following an initial demonstration at Exail’s Lannion site, the DEP decided to proceed with the evaluation, which was approved by the French Army Staff (EMAT) in 2024. The evaluation is set to begin in June 2025 and will last for 10 months. According to Lieutenant Colonel Marc Guilleux, the primary aim is to assess the simulators' effectiveness in streamlining the driving licence acquisition process and improving convoy operation training.
The company will deploy its EF-Car and EF-Truck simulators, which cover a range of vehicles from light to super heavy. These simulators offer an immersive environment where soldiers can enhance their driving skills in a safe and controlled setting. The system includes an instructor station for real-time monitoring and a tactical scenario editor that enables the simulation of operations such as crowd management, ballistic threat responses, and improvised explosive device (IED) scenarios. This allows soldiers to develop coordination strategies, reaction techniques, and disengagement manoeuvres under realistic conditions.
