Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Odysight.ai have unveiled a cutting-edge visual based health monitoring system for UH60 helicopters. The system is based on a multicamera system that enables real-time monitoring of the aircraft's systems health, ensuring maximum safety and availability.
The UH60 helicopter is used for various missions, including search and rescue, medical evacuation, and transportation of passengers and equipment. The new visual based health monitoring system provides a comprehensive view of the helicopter's systems, detecting component degradation and early malfunction before they become critical.
The helicopter is equipped with Odysight.ai’s advanced visual sensing & video analytics technology, which include multiple highly resilient cameras, high performance processing unit, machine vision embedded software and AI\ML models and algorithms to support a variety of predictive maintenance and condition-based monitoring solutions. The cameras will be strategically placed throughout the helicopter, capturing real time visual condition on various safety critical components.
IAI is using its expertise in aerial vehicles for integration and certification of new capabilities, in order to incorporate the new technology into the UH60 helicopter. The project, led by IAI's Aviation Group – Engineering and Development center, is part of IAI activity to develop and install cutting-edge health monitoring systems in aerial vehicles.
he activity is based on various modern sensor technologies and predictive analysis approaches for health monitoring, such as AI and Digital twin, and provide real-time prognostics of critical components. This initiative is part of IAI's ongoing commitment to advancing aerospace technology and ensuring the safety and reliability of its aircraft.
"We are thrilled to partner with Odysight.ai on this project," said Gila Ghilai, VP and General Manager of the Engineering and Development Division. "The advanced camera technology, combined with our expertise in aerospace engineering, will enable us to create a state-of-the-art health monitoring system."
"We at Odysight.ai are proud and honored to be chosen and trusted by IAI for the implementation of this ground-breaking visual based health monitoring system for UH60 helicopters," said Yehu Ofer Odysight.ai’s CEO. "This innovative solution represents a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and availability of these helicopters, which play a vital role in numerous safety critical missions...This partnership highlights the potential of health monitoring systems for aerospace & aviation markets."
