The latest edition of Defence & Security is placing a strong emphasis on the growth of Thailand’s domestic defence industry, with a wide range of defence equipment on display. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Defence Sutin Klungsang said the Royal Thai Government’s policy and objective was to enhance the nation’s defence industry and internal security development to reduce its dependence on imports with a focus on technology transfer and partnership. Klungsang stated that the ongoing defence exhibition would provide Thailand with a platform to promote the country’s development of the domestic defence industry to the world. Over 23,000 trade visitors from 65 countries are expected to have visited the show by the time it concludes on 9 November.

Thailand’s defence industry has unveiled a wide range of armed systems including drones, artillery systems and armoured vehicles along with showcasing numerous efforts at indigenisation of existing defence equipment. General Sanitchanog Sangkachantra Thailand’s Permanent Secretary for Defence, while speaking at the opening ceremony said the Defence & Security 2023 presented a unique platform for Thailand’s military and security personnel to acknowledge and discuss technological know-hows with not only local but also leading companies in the defence and security industry.

The biennial Defence & Security tri-services event has cemented its place as one of the largest and most successful military, defence and security exhibitions in the region. The exhibition allows Thai industry to interact at a greater level and partner with global defence corporations in the defence and internal security industry. The ongoing show is also providing Thai military personnel with the opportunity to establish and reconnect with some of their acquaintances and counterparts across the world.
