Kongsberg Promotes RWS, Solutions for Defence Communications

Kongsberg, which has a long-standing relationship with the Qatar military, is showcasing its remote weapon systems and its defence communications portfolio at the Show.

Kongsberg is the world’s leading provider of remote weapon systems (RWS) and has delivered more than 20,000 Protector RWS to programs in 28 nations, including the Commonly Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS), a US Army Program of Record for acquisition and sustainment of Remote Weapon Stations for all U.S. Army vehicle programs. The Protector family of RWS is suitable for any mission whether on land or at sea. Integrated on mobile or static platforms, the systems enable remote operation of payloads ranging from small caliber weapons to medium caliber automatic cannons. The Protector family includes the RS4 and RS6 Remote Weapon Stations, – with weapons from light machine guns (5.56mm) to light cannons (30mmx113mm). It also includes the Remote Turrets, – designed for medium caliber cannons like 30mmx173mm and 40mmx180mm.

The company’s advanced tactical communication solutions are found in more than 30 countries. It supports state-of-the-art IP as well as legacy systems, besides supplying trunked network solutions on the brigade/battalion level as well as for mobile ground-based air defence systems.
