The Milkor 380 designed and developed by South African defence firm Milkor is being displayed for the first time at the show. “Milkor has firmly positioned itself as a prominent industry player and our latest development, the Milkor 380, is poised to redefine the landscape in availability of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles around the world,” a company spokesperson told Daily News, emphasizing the platform’s innovative design, focus on safety systems, operational data, architecture, and structural enhancements. “Milkor is dedicated to ensuring high precision manufacturing of all components which allows for extended aftersales support with multiple options for indigenization available to the Asian market, the spokesperson emphasized.

The Milkor 380 is a NATO Class III RPAS designed to perform surveillance, reconnaissance, and target engagement operations. Its versatile design allows it to handle long-range missions effectively with an endurance of up to 35 hours. Equipped with advanced optical equipment, it can transmit HD, infrared and multispectral video and data. The 380 includes synthetic aperture radar (SAR), inverse synthetic aperture radar (iSAR) with ground and maritime movement target indicators (GMTI/MMTI), and multiple options for precision guided munitions.

The Milkor 380’s state-of-the-art ground control station (GCS) prioritizes operator comfort during extended missions, integrating the latest technology for an operator-friendly environment. A standout feature of the Milkor 380 is its relayed line-of-sight (RLOS) communication network which can be used as an alternative to the conventional satellite communications (SATCOM), also included on the system, for reduced costs during extended operations.

The NATO Class III RPAS includes autonomous flight, take-off, and landing capabilities and seamlessly integrates with existing C2 & C4ISR systems, facilitating communication with multiple platforms via a built-in relay link. The UAV supports dual redundant datalinks capable of flying two different platforms simultaneously, enabling data streaming from multiple sensors fitted to both platforms in real-time. It also boasts five hardpoints for interchangeable podded electronic warfare solutions, weapon systems, and external containers.
