Qatar Displays MBDA Coastal Defence System Mock-Up

: Mar 12, 2018 - : 7:03 pm

The Qatari Emiri Naval Forces (QENF) displayed a scale mock-up of their newly acquired coastal defence system at the just concluded DIMDEX exhibition in Doha.

The contract award worth approximately 640 million euros to MBDA was first announced at the previous edition of DIMDEX.

The system deploys two different anti-ship missiles: the Exocet MM40 Block 3 and the Extended Range version of the Marte.

This innovative coastal missile system will be able to use its own radar in autonomous mode or make use of datalinks to access the wider coastal surveillance network.

MBDA is also providing the QENF, its naval based air defence systems for the new ships procured from Fincantieri: multi-role corvettes, Landing Platform Dock and patrol vessels will be equipped with Exocet MM40 Block 3 anti-ship missiles as well as Aster 30 Block 1, which is also the cornerstone of MBDA medium range surface to air defense systems, and VL MICA short range air defence missiles.

MBDA also provides the weapons packages for the Mirage 2000, Rafale and Typhoon which have been procured by Qatar.
