Vietnam’s first cargo airline, IPP Air Cargo, is hoping to start operations in November, said the chairman of Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG), Jonathan Hanh Nguyen as reported by Vietnamese media, VnExpress on Sunday (Aug. 28).

He mentioned that if the airline gets its license from the government of Vietnam by the end of that month, IPP Air Cargo will launch its first operational flight from Cai Bi airport, Haiphong, Northern Vietnam soon after.

The airline previously completed the rental process for four Boeing 737-800BCF, of which the first will be delivered soon after finishing the conversion process at Gameco, Guangzhou, China. The work for the second IPP Air Cargo’s B737 cargo conversion is also currently underway, with the third and fourth to follow soon.

Aside from Boeing 737s, IPP Air Cargo also has signed deals for four Airbus A330-300F and six Boeing 777 cargo aircraft worth around USD3.5 billion.

Established in 2021 with a charter capital of VND300 billion (USD12.81 million) financed by the IPPG and the family of Jonathan Hanh Nguyen in a 70%-30% share, IPP Air Cargo is the newest Southeast Asian international cargo airline. The airline expects to transport about 115,000 tons of cargo in its first year and aims for a profit from its fourth year of operation onward.

IPP Air Cargo also has announced that one of its planned international routes next year will be weekly flights transporting agricultural products from Queensland, Australia to Da Nang City, Vietnam.
