Egyptian industry has developed a new 4X4 armoured vehicle in the Temsah-3, which has been designed by the Vehicle Department – Engineering Industrial Complex. The Temsah-3 is on display at the show and company officials at the show say, that efforts are on to find an export customer for the new light armoured vehicle, which has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 6.4 tonne.
Trials are underway, and the new vehicle builds on the experience of the Temsah-1 and Temsah-2, which have displayed excellent mobility, performance and mine-protection capability, while in service. To cater for military and peace keeping requirements, the hull and turret has armour protection upto BR6. The remote-con- trolled weapon system (RWCS) can rotate 360 degrees.
Seven-gun ports are available and anti-blast seats are available as optional fit. The modern anti-mine seats being offered offer STANAG 4568 protection levels and meet NATO AEP-55 standards. The folding wall mounted seats are fitted with an advanced energy damper attenuation system, 4-point seatbelt and adjustable headrest.
Three external cameras are placed outside the vehicle in addition to a night vision camera, to provide the crew with enhanced situational awareness. The external video is presented on a 9” dis- play inside the vehicle.
According to a company official, Temsah-3 will be available as a troop carrier vehicle or as a light armoured vehicle with a RCWS. The vehicle has a crew of 2 and can seat four fully armed troops.
The new Temsah-3 builds on the chassis of the Hummer and is powered by an imported American 6.5 L turbo diesel V8 engine to achieve a max speed of 110 kmph. The vehicle comes with a four-speed automatic transmission.
Designed as a high mobility armoured vehicle, Temsah-3 can tackle gradients of 60-degree, side slope angle of 40-degree, angle of approach of 47 degree and angle of departure of 40 degree.
The vehicle has a range of 442 km. A run-flat system has also been fitted on the vehicle. The Temsah-3 is likely to be inducted by the Egyptian armed forces as well.
