BIRD Aerosystems is presenting its AMPS Airborne Missile Protection Systems and the SPREOS DIRCM for the first time at the ongoing IDEX.
Operationally deployed in dangerous conflict areas worldwide, BIRD's AMPS Airborne Missile Protection System provides the most enhanced protection for military and civilian aircraft against the growing threat of ground-to-air missiles (MANPADS). The system is designed to automatically detect, verify, and foil SAM attacks through the effective use of Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) that jam the missile's IR seeker and protect the aircraft.
Based on BIRD Aerosystems' experience and proven record, BIRD's SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System) DIRCM ensures optimal platform protection in the most effective way available today. Queued by the Missile Warning Sensors (MWS), SPREOS can uniquely confirm that it is a real missile, not a false alarm. At the same time, it precisely assesses the nature of the threat, tracking it and cueing an advanced QCL dual-band laser to defeat the threat.
BIRD is also demonstrating its ASIO solution for Maritime Patrol and Border Surveillance missions, an end-to-end aerial-naval-land surveillance solution that provides an advanced multi-layered approach to defend territorial water against security, economic, and ecological threats.
Another innovative solution that will be presented by the company is the µMPR (Micro Maritime Patrol Radar): a miniature airborne radar with advanced proprietary technology for maritime border protection. Ideal for installation on small aerial unmanned platforms, small helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft, the µMPR leverages BIRD's radar technologies along with millimeter-wave (mmW) technology to cut through sea clutter, improve detection capability, and significantly increase mission effectiveness and cost-efficiency.
BIRD's µMPR is also being presented on Steadicopter's Black Eagle 50H unmanned helicopter platform, and on Aeronautics' Orbiter 4 STUAS.
Ronen Factor, Co-CEO and Founder at BIRD Aerosystems: "We are happy to present our renowned airborne missile protection solution and mission management solution, for the first time in the UAE. Ideal for defense uses as well as for the protection of maritime borders and strategic assets, BIRD's innovative airborne solution enables the user to be protected and receive all the needed real-time information in order to make optimal decisions during the mission".
