Following a successful growth in 2023, the Challenge Group is focusing on fortifying internal collaboration and fine-tuning its service within the air cargo industry this year. The group has introduced and deployed its Boeing 767 Cargo fleet, increasing the tonnage airlifted and reaching the milestone of 1000 charter flights last year.
“Our DNA and value proposition is based on an end-to-end solution approach to supply chain requirements,” said Yossi Shoukroun, CEO of Challenge Group. “We have become the partner of choice when it comes to complex verticals and specific/unique logistics needs, in terms of commodity and destination,” he explained.
Two-thirds of the company’s business is in the vertical segment, such as live animals, automotive, aerospace, artworks, temperature-controlled shipments, valuables, and dangerous goods.
“Overall, we expect the complex vertical segment to grow, and predict that our certified expertise and known capabilities will gain us further market share. The most growth, however, can again be expected in e-commerce,” he added.
The main challenges, therefore, that Challenge Group is taking on internally, are a strategic fleet expansion which will enable the addition of new markets and new destinations tailored to customer requirements. A new digital sales channel and sustainability initiatives are planned to support and enhance the overall customer experience.
Other concrete plans for 2024 include a new hangar and a new maintenance station for Challenge Technic, Challenge Logistics’ investment in new technology such as the Project44 tool to provide seamless visibility and transparency to customers, as well as improvement in the handling of electrical cars, electrical tractors, and GPU in Liege.
Challenge Group is a Malta-based air cargo group comprising three airlines: Challenge Airlines IL (Israel), Challenge Airlines BE (Belgium), and Challenge Airlines MT (Malta). The group owns and operates four Boeing 747-400F and four Boeing 767-300s which can handle 300,000 tons of cargo per year.
With a target to handle up to one million tons of cargo annually, the group now offers cargo services to New York, Houston, Atlanta, Hong Kong, Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Oslo, and Larnaca. The group also provides charter flights to other destinations worldwide.
