Deutsche Aircraft has announced a leadership transition, appointing Nico Neumann as Co-CEO alongside current CEO Dave Jackson. Neumann will assume the Co-CEO role on 1 January 2025, succeeding his current position as Chief Operating Officer. This transition is part of the company’s plan to prepare for the delivery of its D328eco aircraft by 2027. By mid-2025, Neumann is expected to take over full CEO responsibilities for Deutsche Aircraft's operations in Munich and Leipzig. Dave Jackson will continue in his role as CEO of the parent company, Deutsche Aircraft Group, supporting Neumann during the transition.
Neumann has been with Deutsche Aircraft and its associated businesses for 18 years, holding key operational roles, including Vice President of Operations and Programmes. His responsibilities have spanned developing aircraft production plans, leading supply chain operations, and engaging with the German government. He was also instrumental in selecting Leipzig as the location for the Final Assembly Line (FAL) of the D328eco. Earlier in his career, Neumann served as a B2-certified engineer at 328 Support Services and progressed to roles such as Head of Avionics & Electric and Director of Production & Maintenance, overseeing maintenance programmes for the Dornier 328 fleet.
Dave Jackson, who has led Deutsche Aircraft since 2006, has been pivotal in steering the business through a turnaround and maintaining the safe operation of the global Dornier 328 fleet. Jackson’s career spans over 20 years in the aviation and automotive sectors, with expertise in business restructuring and development, acquisitions, and regional airline management.
Olaf Lawrenz has been named the new Chief Operating Officer and will work with Neumann to ensure a seamless transition. Lawrenz brings experience from companies such as Airbus, where he managed supply chains and final assembly lines for the A320 series.
Commenting on the transition, Dave Jackson stated, “This is an exciting time for Deutsche Aircraft. I am confident that with Nico’s leadership, experience and commitment to our values, the team will continue to reach new heights on our journey towards aircraft entry into service.”
Nico Neumann added, “I am thrilled to step into the role of Co-CEO and steer Deutsche Aircraft through this next phase of industrialisation as we build towards our future. I look forward to the collaboration with Olaf and the entire team.”
Deutsche Aircraft is continuing its work on the next-generation turboprop aircraft, the D328eco. The aircraft’s first flight is planned for late 2025, with the Leipzig/Halle Airport Final Assembly Line expected to be operational by then.
