BIRD Aerosystems Secures Follow-On Order for Aeroshield

Our Bureau - : Feb 4, 2025 - : 2:28 am

BIRD Aerosystems has received a follow-on order for the company's Aeroshield missile protection system, which includes the SPREOS (Self Protection Radar Electro-Optic System) DIRCM. The order was placed by a long-term NATO customer to equip VIP Dassault Falcon 7X and Airbus A319 aircraft. Delivery is scheduled for 2025 and will also cover system maintenance services.

The SPREOS system, designed for missile threat detection and protection, identifies, tracks, and confirms potential threats before countering them. It provides defence against man-portable air-defence systems (MANPADS) and integrates with various missile warning systems.

BIRD Aerosystems' Airborne Missile Protection System (AMPS) is designed to protect helicopters and VIP aircraft, including those used by heads of state, from ground-to-air threats such as MANPADS attacks. The system is housed within the AeroShield POD, which is lightweight and compact. It is certified for use on the Falcon 7X and Airbus A319 and requires minimal modifications for installation. The system’s design allows for easy transfer between aircraft to optimise fleet management.

Matan Perry, Chief of Marketing and Vice President of Sales at BIRD Aerosystems, stated: “This follow-on order highlights the trust our clients place in BIRD Aerosystems and our proven self-protection solutions. As we witness a growing need for advanced AMPS defense systems and increasing demand globally, we remain committed to delivering high-end, comprehensive solutions that meet the stringent demands of modern airborne defense. In 2025, the system is scheduled to complete its STC certification on the G-700 and Global-7500 aircraft as well.”
