IAI Readies for Production of Upgraded Gulfstream G-280

Arie Egozi - : Dec 17, 2024 - : 3:22 am

The aviation group of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) is getting ready for the series production of the upgraded Gulfstream G-280 immediately after it is certified by the Israeli Civil Aviation Authority. First deliveries are currently planned for 2026.

The group continues to manufacture the current version of the G-280. Since the aircraft has been introduced to the business jet market, IAI has delivered around 300 aircraft and has firm orders for more.

Shmuel Kuzi IAI exec. VP & general manager of the company's aviation group said that the group has built the prototype of the upgraded G-280 and is adapting the production lines for the manufacture of the upgraded version. "We have designed the upgraded version and we will certify it as we did with previous models of Gulfstream business jets that we have made."

Kuzi added that the new version will be offered in the market in 2026 . The company plans to manufacture 30 aircraft per year. IAI has so far designed and manufactured the Gulfstream G-150 , G-200 and G-280 .

According to previous reports based on Gulfstream data, the U.S company has created a lower cabin height for the G280, bringing it down from 1,829 meters to 1,463 meters at a 41,000-ft cruising altitude. Thanks to the new, lower cabin altitude, passengers will experience less physical strain.

On December 11, 2009, the G250 had its first flight in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 2015, the G-250 was renamed G-280.
