Lion Air Opens New Jakarta-Ternate Route

Yulian Ardiansyah - : Jan 19, 2024 - : 9:32 pm

Lion Air, Indonesia’s biggest low-cost airline, has announced that the airline will start flying its new Jakarta-Ternate route this month. The announcement follows the airline’s news release regarding its new Pekanbaru-Surabaya and Ternate-Surabaya routes last week.

“This route is scheduled to start January 26, 2024, with a daily flight frequency,” said Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Danang Mandala Prihantoro on Thursday (Jan. 18). “(Our) passengers do not need to transit in another city, (since) this route only lasts 3.5 hours. This route is faster than other routes which take up to 6 hours,” he added.

He further said that Ternate is an important destination in North Maluku due to its variety of natural and historical attractions. Mount Gamalama, Lake Tolire, as well as Sulamadaha and Jikomalamo Beaches, are among the region’s most popular natural wonders. There are also well-preserved sites like Fort Oranje, Fort Kalamata, and Fort Tolukko as historical attractions.

Lion Air will use its Boeing 737-800NG for this route. The flight designated as JT-886 will depart Jakarta’s Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK) at 00:40 Western Indonesia Time (UTC +7), to land at Sultan Babullah International Airport (TTE) Ternate at 06:25 Central Indonesia Time (UTC +8).

Lion Air’s JT-887 return flight will depart Ternate at 07:10 Central Indonesia Time, to arrive in Jakarta at 08:40 Western Indonesia Time.
