ZLIN Aircraft, the Czech aircraft company, has brought its two-seater Z 242 to Famex. The training and fully acrobatic aircraft is intended for basic and advanced training in civil or military air schools, for glider and banner towing, for night and IFR flight training and also for acrobatic flying and acrobatic training. The Z 242 is suitable for performing acrobatic maneuvers +6 / -3,5 g as well. It is well known in the aviation circles for its maneuverability.
According to the company, the aircraft has got Type Certificates in many countries all over the world, including the EAS Type Certificate valid for all countries of European Union, the FAA Type Certificate valid for the USA and the Transport Canada Type Certificate valid for the Canada.
“We mainly sell the airplane to armies and air forces all across the world,” company Sales Manager Karel Vasut told Daily News. “It is widely used in the Czech Republic and many other neighboring countries in Europe. It is popular in Latin America and South America as well.”
“There is no comparable airplane in the market,” Vasut said. “It has a very solid, robust construction. It can withstand very heavy landing on concrete or grass runways. It is ideal for young pilots in training. Both Military and civil pilots in training use the airplane.”
Mexico, Peru, Bolivia are some of the countries that already use the aircraft. “We are in negotiations with several countries in Latin America and Central America right now,” said Vasut. “There is plenty of interest in the aircraft; I think we should be able to announce the signing of a few major contracts this year.
