Lion Air Launches Two More Indonesian Routes

After announcing a new route connecting three Indonesian cities recently, Lion Air has just launched two new daily direct flight routes in Indonesia which will be operational this month. The low-cost airline will start flying its Pekanbaru-Surabaya route on 12 January, followed by the Ternate-Surabaya route starting on 18 January 2024.

“Flights [on these routes] will be served every day with a flight frequency of seven times a week,” said Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, Danang Mandala Prihantoro on Monday (Jan. 8).

The first new route will connect Riau province’s capital Pekanbaru on Sumatra Island to East Java province’s capital Surabaya. Lion Air’s flight with JT-982 designation is scheduled to take off from Juanda International Airport, Surabaya (SUB) at 09:00 Western Indonesia Time (Waktu Indonesia Barat / WIB, UTC+7), to arrive at Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport, Pekanbaru (PKU) at 12:00 WIB. The return flight designated as JT-983 is scheduled to leave Pekanbaru at 12:40 WIB to arrive at Surabaya at 15:20 WIB.

The airline’s next new route will connect North Maluku province’s capital Ternate on the Maluku Islands to Surabaya. With the JT-868 designation, this flight is scheduled to leave Surabaya to arrive at 06:00 WIB at Sultan Babullah Airport, Ternate (TTE) at 11:00 Eastern Indonesia Time (Waktu Indonesia Timur / WIT, UTC+9). Lion Air’s JT-869 return flight will leave Ternate at 11:45 WIT to arrive at Surabaya at 12:45 WIB.
