Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of Russia's Rostec State Corporation, will showcase a range of defence products at the IDEX 2025 International Defence Exhibition, scheduled to take place from 17 to 21 February in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The exhibition will feature weaponry that has been modified based on recent combat experiences.
“At IDEX 2025, Rosoboronexport is presenting the maximum number of new products from Russian defense industry in recent years. Among them are: the T-90MS, the best MBT in the world in an upgraded configuration, Pantsir-SMD-E SAM system, KUB new-generation loitering munitions, Kornet-EM ATGM system with remote control and the new Bulat missile, and the Berezhok crew compartment,” said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport.
“The general idea of our exhibit is to show Russia's comprehensive approach to developing and upgrading all types of weapons, taking into account the experience of modern combat operations. This factor has already enabled us to sign contracts worth more than $4.5 billion with 15 friendly countries in 2025,” he added.
The T-90MS main battle tank, developed by Uralvagonzavod, will be a focal point of Rosoboronexport's display. The tank has been adapted to counter modern anti-tank threats, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), first-person view (FPV) drones, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), and light anti-tank grenade launchers. It features additional protection such as explosive reactive armour (ERA), slat armour, electronic warfare equipment against UAVs, and an active protection system. It is also equipped with an upgraded fire control system and can fire armour-piercing fin-stabilised discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds, air-burst fragmentation projectiles, and guided missiles.
Other key systems on display include the Pantsir-SMD-E surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, the Kornet-EM anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) system with remote operation capabilities, and the Berezhok crew compartment. The Pantsir-SMD-E is designed to protect critical infrastructure from UAV threats and features a 48-missile load, with some capable of engaging targets up to 20 km away. Mikheev noted, “Rosoboronexport expects increased interest in the new Pantsir-SMD-E in the Middle East. Today, it is the best solution in the world market to protect critical infrastructure, including oil and gas facilities, against all types of aerial threats. The SAM system is not demanding on the sites for installation – it can be mounted on buildings or a concrete slab, it is remotely controlled, fires salvos, and receives data from external radars.”
The Kornet-EM ATGM system has been upgraded based on operational experience and now includes a remote-control system to improve operator safety. It can also deploy the Bulat missile, which is capable of penetrating up to 250 mm of armour behind ERA. The Berezhok weapon station is designed for both Russian and foreign armoured vehicles, incorporating improvements informed by combat experience.
Rosoboronexport will also present reconnaissance UAVs and loitering munitions, including the KUB-2-1E and KUB-2-2-2E from Kalashnikov Group, which will be unveiled for the first time. The Lancet-E loitering munition system will also be displayed.
Additionally, Rosoboronexport will showcase a selection of modern small arms, including the latest Kalashnikov assault rifles, the Chukavin sniper rifle, the PPK-20 submachine gun, ORSIS precision sniper rifles, and various optical and targeting systems.
As part of the IDEX 2025 business programme, Rosoboronexport plans to hold discussions with delegations from the Middle East and other regions regarding potential cooperation in technology and defence industry partnerships.
