Airbus H160 Begins US Service with PHI Aviation

Our Bureau - : Jul 4, 2024 - : 12:43 am

PHI Aviation has received the first Airbus H160 helicopter in the United States, marking the start of H160 operations in the country. This helicopter is the first of four H160s that PHI will deploy for offshore transportation in the Gulf of Mexico.

Before commencing commercial operations, the helicopter will undergo a route-proving programme. This initiative aims to demonstrate the H160’s capabilities in challenging offshore conditions, ensuring a smooth entry into service and familiarising operators and customers with the aircraft’s advanced technology and safety features.

“This is an exciting milestone for our teams and partners. The H160 represents a new era for PHI, enhancing our commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency for our operations in the Gulf of Mexico,” stated Scott McCarty, CEO of PHI Group.

“We are proud to officially welcome this next-generation aircraft into our fleet as we kick off route-proving. Congratulations to everyone who helped make this achievement possible!”

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters, commented, “With its state-of-the-art technology, the H160 has set a new standard in the helicopter industry, and we are pleased U.S. customers will now benefit from the aircraft’s superior performance.”

“The H160’s lower fuel consumption, its ability to use up to 50% blended SAF, comfortable cabin, and excellent cockpit visibility make it ideally suited for offshore operations, and we are confident that it will excel in PHI’s energy missions.”

The H160 has gained popularity among customers in North America, with the first Canadian delivery recently made to Chartright Air Group. The helicopter has also entered service in Brazil, Japan, Saudi Arabia, France, and several other European countries.
