Airbus Defence and Space, in collaboration with HENSOLDT, is upgrading the German Airborne Weapon Systems Electronic Warfare Centre with the latest hardware and software. These improvements are designed to enhance mission planning and execution for German Air Force aircraft, including the A400M, by supporting mission-specific electronic warfare data.
Starting in January 2025, the upgrades will incorporate advanced software solutions aimed at increasing automation and reducing response times. Airbus’ updated systems will focus on improving usability and integrating future-proof technology compatible with next-generation weapon systems. These changes are expected to streamline mission preparation, improve execution, and enable seamless integration with additional platforms.
HENSOLDT will provide critical IT services and deployable hardware for mobile operations, including server hardware and workstations for personnel.
Based in Taufkirchen, near Munich, HENSOLDT is a key player in the European defence industry, specialising in sensor solutions for defence and security. In 2023, the company reported a turnover of €1.85 billion and employs around 8,000 people, following its acquisition of ESG GmbH. The company is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in the MDAX index.
This partnership between Airbus and HENSOLDT is part of a broader effort to strengthen Germany’s defence capabilities and ensure readiness against evolving technological challenges.
