The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) has recently completed a successful joint test and acceptance of the M Solar-X unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system, conducted by the Royal Thai Air Force Unmanned Aircraft Training Center (RTAF-UTC) and Wing 3.
Developed by the Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj Royal Air Force Academy, the M Solar-X is a lightweight UAV system designed for reconnaissance and surveillance. Weighing under 25 kg, the mini UAV is now entering production after extensive testing in real-world conditions.
The M Solar-X system is set to be integrated into flight training at the RTAF-UTC and related agencies. The UAV’s electric motor drive system combines battery and solar power, enabling a continuous flight time of up to 8 hours. With over 800 flight hours logged across more than 400 missions, the M Solar-X has shown strong performance during field tests conducted by various units of the Royal Thai Army.
In a move to scale production, the Air Force has signed a contract with Thai Aviation Industry Co., Ltd. (TAI) to manufacture the UAV under the name K-24, based on the Air Force’s patent. The M Solar-X project is a key achievement for the RTAF and represents a significant advancement in Thailand’s defence industry.
